6. Knit something beautiful for a friend’s baby

When my lovely friend Emma announced she was having a baby, I had to make her the friend for #6. I asked what she would prefer and she asked for a cardigan. I went for green as she didn’t know what she was having and it was finished on 5th March 2010.

I’m really proud of my achievement and Emma is really pleased with it. I’m looking forward to seeing gorgeous Constance, who was born on 16th March, wearing it.

6. Knit something beautiful for a friend’s baby

A very lovely friend (who shall remain nameless!) is pregnant, hooray! I’m so happy for my friend and her husband.

The quest for something beautiful begins here!

PS, if the other friend who I promised something beautiful becomes pregnant is reading this, we’ll count this the practice run. ;-)

Hooray!

After another 7 days of not leaving the house and getting nowhere fast towards my 101 Things, I had a message through Ravelry (knitting website) to say a new Stitch and Bitch group had been set up nearby, hooray! They meet at a great time for me (6pm – I’m so not a night owl!) every Tuesday and also in my favourite bar/restaurant – result!

I went along last night and had such a good time. There were 10 of us last night and apart from one girl’s nan, everyone else was younger. I really have a good feeling about this and so excited about my knitting, as well as finally being able to strike something off my list – it’s been a while!! I’m hoping to get another today too, woo!

Hopefully it’s the start of things to come and I’ll start getting through my list now!

Much love, Anne xx

#9 – Join a Stitch and Bitch group to meet new friends.

I looked on the Stitch and Bitch (knitting group) website a few weeks ago and found a group that meets in a Cafe Nero in Liverpool City Centre. I chose that one for a few reasons; 1) it’s very central, 2) I can get there by bus as I can’t really drive at night these days, 3) it meets at 5pm and is finished by 7pm so I can take my meds without turning into Sleepy Joe (as Beff and The Geek will testify too!), 4) the other Liverpool group scares me as there are 40 members (!) plus their message board on the knitting website seems a bit kleeky and 5) the other group is nowhere near the City Centre and would mean at least 2 buses. I decided I would start in March.

Excellent, decision made! On Thursday afternoon I had a bath, washed my hair, picked out what to wear, put some lipstick on and off I went to town with my Cath Kidston school bag knitting bag.I intentionally got there late (5.30pm) as I wanted to be able to see for people knitting so I didn’t have to go up to random groups of people, asking it they were knitters.

One problem… It doesn’t exist! The guy has worked there for months and has never seen a knitting group there. Apparently I’m not the only person to have turned up looking for them but not a soul there! I had emailed last week but hadn’t received a reply, I just assumed that person was on holiday or some other logical reason.

I’m so disappointed! There is another group (who I went to spy on with Dean!) but they only meet once a month and was hoping I could get out every week. It’s at a very expensive knitting shop and they meet in the cafe/art space but they looked nice (and young) enough so will go next month. There was only 5 of them too, which is good.

Boo!

#9 is now “Join a knitting group to meet knew friends”!
