Meals From Recipe Books (#53) – Page One

I have quite a few (slight understatement, maybe!) recipe books but I all too often stick to the recipes and meals I know. This task (#53) is one to make me use my recipe books. I’ll take pictures of some of my meals but I don’t want to barrage you with 101 meal photos! All photos I do post will be click-able to my Flickr page. I will only list each recipe once and will only include things we eat as a main meal.

Update 30/08/09 – I’ve struggled with my appetite for a few months and haven’t been cooking as much from books or otherwise. It has meant this task has stagnated. It’s so hard when you look at a book filled with lovely recipes yet nothing takes your fancy. I’ve changed this task from weekly to 101 meals and will try to complete it as soon as I can. I won’t include dates now, just the meals themselves.

1. Pork with mushrooms and garlic with potato cakes

This was really lovely, a surprising combination as at first thought, it feels like it should be with rice but goes so well with the potato cakes. There was lots of flavour in this and not too hard to make either. It was a strange cross between a Chinese meal and what seemed like a creamy sauce. I will happily make it again.
