91. Sort out paperwork and start a system
95. Give 101 things to charity

I’ve just remembered about sorting through all our paperwork whilst at my mum’s in November/December. I didn’t take the laptop so I could get on with other things and it worked. I ploughed my way through a huge box containing an overwhelming amount of paperwork from the last five years. Taking out and shredding everything (bar pay slips) over a year old was actually quite satisfying and I loved stapling, hole-punching and sorting. I had a full black bin bag of criss-cross shredding and also a huge amount to recycle too. It’s like a bit of a weight off my shoulders and now I have more of a system, it should be easier to stay on top of it.

I also gave the last few items (had 13 things left to give) to charity and everything has gone off to the Marie Curie shop in Portobello. I gave away some things I loved and things worth quite a bit so I like to think of what Marie Curie will be able to do with the money from the sale of these things.

I have no crossed 24 things off my list, hooray! There are a few others which should be completed soon too so can hopefully start the year on a roll.

97. Grow 5 new herbs to go with 5 existing herbs.

As a keen cook, I’ve always loved herbs. We have grown them for a few years now but mainly in the ground. For my birthday this year, Dean and the mother-in-law bought me this Patiogro from Lakeland (yes, I know I’m only 29..!) I really do love it and it really works well. We’re going to get the greenhouse cover for next year so we can start earlier.

Before starting 101 Things, we had thyme, rosemary, sage, bay and chives.

We now also have have:

1. Mint
2. Basil
3. Oregano (Greek and standard)
4. Coriander
5. Dill
6. Parsley (Curly and flat)

I did take photographs but for the life of me, I can’t find them, which is really annoying as they now aren’t at their best. Boo. If I find them I will upload if I find them and if not, I’ll need to take them next year.

93. Reduce toiletries by half
94. Clear out and organise the junk room

I spent a few days last month dejunking, first by sorting out the junk room and then other bits and bobs, like my vast toiletries collections.

Out of the junk room, 8 black bin bags of rubbish went to the tip, a large box of paper and bin bag with cardboard were recycled and Marie Curie gained 6 bags with 66 items (#95). I ran out of time to properly reorder but that will be done asap and is already in a far better state than it was before and I think it can be striked off as done.

My toiletries collection was embarrassingly huge and I was to ashamed to count it! My mum worked for Boots for 25 years and I had so much free stuff from her over the years plus the unused bits from far too many Christmas gift sets. I had a full shelf in the bathroom, a set of 3 plastic drawers which were full, my bedside drawer which had been stuffed full for an ashamedly long time plus other bits scattered around. I now only have my shelf and my bedside drawer and think I managed to reduce my collection by about 75%, yay! My MiL and girls from Stitch and Bitch all smell lovely now!

I’ve felt like a burdening weight has been lifted and boy does it feel good!
